Young Family Farm Event

This past week, Matt and the team packed up the kitchen down here in Newport, loaded it up into a couple of trucks, and set up operations on Young Family Farm in Little Compton, RI. Matt & Karla Young had been talking about such an event for the summers past with the stars finally aligning on the evening of July 23. It was worth the wait.

Matt put together a menu that served as the perfect combination of favorite Brick Alley Pub dishes mixed with fresh YFF-grown fruit & vegetable offerings (which were picked earlier that day only a couple feet away from the dinner tables).

Guests arriving for appetizers were greeted by our (increasingly famous) Cheese & Charcuterie curation featuring some of our favorite New England cheeses + homemade Peach Sangria (featuring YFF peaches), Narragansett Del’s Shandy & Summer Ale, & Newport Storm’s Amber Ale.

Following a short but sweet tour of the farm, the guests came back to find their first course being served: Ceviche featuring fluke that was caught earlier in the morning.

Continuing with the theme of freshness, Course 2 consisted of beautiful Heirloom tomatoes, fresh peaches, & Burrata cheese. Like the first course and a number of the following, this salad came out in a family-style serving.

As everyone began to find the groove of this perfect night, things started to pick up behind the grill. With the night growing darker, the candle-lit tables looked like a scene out Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, piled high with courses like:

  • Traditional Carbonara
  • Brick Alley Pub’s Portuguese Littlenecks
  • Gazpacho
  • Grilled Striped Bass with Succotash
  • Eggplant Napoleon
  • Beef Tenders with Plum Sauce & Rosemary Roasted Potatoes

And just when it seemed like no one could possibly eat another thing, dessert presented itself in the form of Fresh Cream with Blueberry Compote.

We might be a little biased, but we believe you will find few places more beautiful than Newport in the summer. However, after this incredible night we would be willing to admit the magical qualities of Little Compton. There is an ineffable feeling to great friends, food, & drink coming together for an outside event on a perfect summer night. This dinner was a lot of work to bring to life, but hearing the laughter & seeing the content faces & tasting the fresh food was just another affirmation as to why we do what we do. And absolutely love it.

Thanks to all who joined us. And for those who were unable to attend, we hope to share this opportunity with you again soon!
